OUR mission
Nourish is a non-profit organization committed to promoting awareness and understanding of eating disorders,
while providing education on balanced nutrition. Through gardening products and nutritious recipes, Nourish supports individuals affected by eating disorders, as well as those seeking to cultivate a healthier relationship with food, on their path to well-being and recovery.
THE PROBLEM
-
Increased exposure to unrealistic body standards via social media and advertising.
Diet culture and weight stigma becoming more pervasive globally.
Growing mental health challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression), especially in youth.
-
Despite rising rates, most people with eating disorders never receive treatment (as high as 70% untreated, per data from the National Alliance for Eating Disorders).
Inadequate mental health infrastructure, especially in lower and middle-income countries.
-
Eating disorders are often dismissed or misunderstood, particularly in marginalized groups (e.g., men, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ communities).
Many people don’t recognize early symptoms or delay seeking help due to shame or misinformation.
THE SOLUTION
The Nourish "Herb Garden Kit" allows customers to grow their own herbs to gain a true understanding of the value of life and the importance of nutrition. The Herb Garden Kit includes 3 glass jars for growing the herbs in, 3 seed packets (cilantro, basil, thyme), potting mix, 7 healthy recipe cards, and an engraved wooden display tray.
Why a Gardening Kit?
-
Eating disorders often involve a disconnection from the body, food, and self-worth. Growing herbs invites users to reconnect gently with the act of nurturing—both plants and themselves.
The process of planting, tending, and watching something grow mirrors the recovery journey: slow, steady, and full of potential.
-
The kit comes with 7 healthy, approachable recipe cards, helping individuals explore food in a low-pressure, joyful way. These aren't just recipes — they're small steps toward reclaiming autonomy and creativity in the kitchen.
Fresh herbs add flavor and color, making meals more appealing and personalized, which can help reduce anxiety around eating.
-
Gardening is proven to reduce stress and increase mindfulness. The simple routine of caring for herbs gives users a sense of purpose and calm, which can be grounding in recovery.
It also offers a non-digital, tactile experience — something especially valuable in a world of overwhelming screens and social media pressure.
-
Unlike clinical resources, this kit is gentle, empowering, and non-intimidating. It can be a first step toward healing, or a companion on a longer journey.
It speaks to self-compassion, not “fixing” — which aligns with trauma-informed care.
